She/Her

Artist / Artist Educator / Arts Facilitator

Specialize: Visual Arts / Painting / Mixed Media

A multidisciplinary self-taught visual artist from Mumbai, India now residing in Toronto. My practice focuses on exploring socio-cultural issues, such as feminism, decolonization, and diversity and equity, by means of arts activism.

Through my visual vocabulary, I explore cultural and gender issues from the perspective of a modern Indian woman. Colors, patterns, embroidery, and weaving of Indian textiles inspire my paintings. I explore how fabrics and femininity intersect in Indian society.

As I have grown in my community arts practice since moving to Canada, I have created murals, led community workshops, and engaged with diverse groups.

Currently, I am the Education Director at Blank Canvases, a community arts organization that provides arts education to participants of all ages. This role entails making art accessible to many schools and communities in the city, as well as designing pedagogical lessons that are process-oriented and student-centered
